Graduate Cost of Attendance

The Spitzer School of Architecture is committed to transparency for prospective graduate students, so that they are aware of the costs of the program at the time of application. We believe that our programs provide exceptional value for the quality of the professional education that we provide.

The current tuition and fee schedule for all graduate programs at the college are listed on the CCNY Bursar’s page, here. New York State residents pay a flat rate each semester provided they are enrolled in at least 12 credits. Non-New York State resident students including international students pay by the credit. After one year of residency in New York State, U.S. citizens and permanent residents may qualify for New York State resident tuition rates.

The per-semester and per-credit tuition costs are listed on the Bursar’s page, linked above. In addition to tuition—by credit or by semester—students in Spitzer School graduate programs pay an Academic Excellence fee of $500 per semester. The typical credit load in our graduate programs is 15 credits per semester. If paying tuition by semester, up to 18 credits are permitted with no additional tuition cost.

The school provides various enrichment resources to graduate students at no extra charge such a starter kit of tools and supplies for incoming students (worth approximately $300, inclusive of a sketchbook, scaled rulers, tracing paper, glue, cutting matt and knife, etc.), a printing allowance of $100 per semester, certain software licenses, some studio supplies, and curricular travel. These student enrichments are funded directly by the Academic Excellence Fee and other resources at the Spitzer School of Architecture.

However, students should factor an allowance from $1,000 to $2,000 per semester for additional expenses into their budget. These expenses may include textbooks, physical modelling materials, printing costs beyond the allowance, specialized tools, and licenses to advanced, specialized software.

While all students have regular access to computer workstations in the school’s Digital Media Labs, expect to spend around $2,500 to $3000 for an appropriately configured laptop. See the current Spitzer Arch IT Student Handbook for more detailed information about hardware and software resources and requirements.
