 of Landscape Architecture students of the City College of New York’s Spi
 tzer School of Architecture. The theme of PLOT Volume 5 is FILTER. The wor
 dfilter operates as both noun and verb\, evoking multiple interpretations:
  to filter is to edit\, to sift\, to screen. It suggests a paring down\, a
  refinement\, a draft distilled to its most elegant iteration. FILTER conn
 otes exclusion\, for better or for worse—an intriguing ambiguity. As a b
 arrier\, it allows for refined curation or exclusive marginalization. What
  is the value of the filtrate produced? Indeed\, filters are most noticeab
 le when they clog\, break down\, or fail to perform their intended task. W
 hat is being filtered\, and at what expense? What happens when we stop scr
 eening?
